Hip Dip Filler Recovery

Recovery Day by Day

Day 1 (Treatment Day)

Area looks over-filled due to swelling. Mild tenderness. You can drive yourself home. Return to desk work is possible immediately. Avoid touching the area. Do not apply makeup to injection sites.

Day 2-3

Swelling peaks then begins to subside. Bruising may appear. Manage with ice packs (wrapped in cloth — no direct ice on skin). Avoid strenuous exercise. Avoid alcohol (thin blood, increase bruising). Sleep on your back or stomach — no pressure on the treated hip area.

Day 4-7

Swelling largely resolved. Bruising fading. Area may look under-filled — this is correct for Sculptra (results develop over weeks). For HA fillers, this is close to the stable result. Return to exercise OK after 48 hours for light activity, 1 week for strenuous.

Week 2-4 (Sculptra Only)

Collagen begins to develop. First subtle volume emerges. Continue the 5-5-5 massage rule for Sculptra: massage the treated area 5 minutes, 5 times daily, for 5 days after injection.

Month 1-3 (Sculptra Only)

Collagen continues to develop. Volume increases gradually. The result at month 3 is the stable Sculptra outcome.

Activity Restrictions

  • Strenuous exercise: Avoid for 48 hours (HA) or 1 week (Sculptra/Radiesse)
  • Alcohol: Avoid for 24 hours before and after treatment
  • Saunas/hot tubs: Avoid for 1 week (heat increases swelling)
  • Pressure on area: Avoid for 1 week (sleep on back or stomach)
  • Massage (Sculptra only): Required — 5 minutes, 5 times daily, 5 days
